Can dogs eat chocolate?
No — don't give this
Contains theobromine, which dogs can't clear the way we do. Dark and baking chocolate are the worst; milk chocolate still counts.
If your dog has already eaten it
Ring your vet straight away with the type, the amount and roughly when. Don't wait for symptoms.
Being honest about this
Dogs differ, and amount matters — a crumb of something rich is not the same as half a packet. Treats of any kind should stay under a tenth of what your dog eats in a day. If you're unsure, your vet would far rather take the call.
