Call a vet immediately
Any of these means urgent professional help, day or night.
- Difficulty breathing, choking, or blue or very pale gums
- Collapse, unconsciousness, or sudden weakness
- Bleeding that won't stop
- Suspected poisoning, or eating something they shouldn't have
- A seizure, or repeated seizures
- Being hit by a car, a fall, or any serious injury
- Straining to urinate and producing nothing
- A swollen, hard belly with retching and no vomit
- Heatstroke signs: heavy panting, distress, collapse in the heat
- Sudden severe pain, or a dog who can't settle at all
